NASCAR Weekend on San Diego Bay: Hear the Roar, Skip the Traffic
San Diego, United States – May 10, 2026 / Flagship Cruises & Events /
San Diego, CA — May 8, 2026 — NASCAR is set to take over the San Diego waterfront Friday, June 19 through Sunday, June 21, bringing a surge of energy to the bayfront and surrounding neighborhoods. While access to the race itself is limited—and Sunday is already sold out—Flagship Cruises & Events is offering locals and visitors an alternative way to be part of the action: from the water.
Throughout race weekend, the sights and sounds will carry well beyond the track. From San Diego Bay, guests can hear engines echo across the waterfront as cars speed through the course. Flagship’s harbor tours, particularly along the North Bay route, pass near Turns 7 and 8 by the Helicopter Maintenance Hangars—offering the chance to catch glimpses of the race while taking in panoramic views of the downtown skyline, Coronado Bridge, and working waterfront.
“NASCAR weekend is going to energize the entire San Diego waterfront in a way we’ve never seen before,” said Heather Boye, Director of Sales and Marketing for Flagship Cruises & Events. “Being out on the bay gives you a completely different perspective—you can hear the engines, feel the excitement, and take in the city all at once.”
“What makes this weekend so special is that you don’t need be at the race to feel part of the action,” Boye added. “Whether you’re on a harbor cruise, dining cruise, or the Patriot Jet Boat, you’re immersed in the energy of the race while enjoying a premium experience on the water.”
Flagship’s lineup of experiences during race weekend includes:
- Harbor Tours: A relaxed, narrated cruise offering front-row views of the bay and race-adjacent activity
- Patriot Jet Boat: A 700-horsepower, high-speed thrill ride with tight spins and rapid acceleration—an adrenaline-charged way to experience race day energy from the water
- Dining Cruises: Brunch and dinner experiences featuring chef-driven menus and skyline views, timed with Father’s Day weekend
- Coronado Ferry: A scenic alternative to driving, connecting downtown San Diego and Coronado throughout the event
With increased traffic, road closures, and limited parking expected near the race footprint, the Coronado Ferry will serve as a key transportation option for residents and visitors alike.
“With the influx of visitors and road closures expected, getting around will be a challenge,” said Boye. “Our Coronado Ferry offers a seamless way to travel between downtown and Coronado—while enjoying some of the best views in the city.”
Whether it’s for the thrill, the views, or simply a way to navigate the city during a busy weekend, Flagship Cruises & Events offers a unique vantage point on one of San Diego’s biggest events of the year.
